ADHERE means to follow a plan and stick with a process or method. For example, when choosing vocabulary words for my Substack posts, I ADHERE to a strict process of only using REAL WORDS that have been answers on SAT vocabulary in context questions.
SAT test writers also ADHERE to a strategy of using academic examples drawn from art, science, history, and literature to illustrate tested vocabulary words. As we have seen on recent examples about IMBUE and SYNTHESIS, test writers are showing a strong interest in Japanese art and architecture.
The August 22, 2026, SAT contained a vocabulary in context passage that focused on classical Japanese painting. It turns out that Assi Chia incorporated traditional European methods into his works. In contrast, Fukuda Heihachiro ADHERED TO traditional Japanese approaches by applying colors to a silk surface.
