Today’s word marks a major milestone! CATEGORIZE is the 250th Winning Word I have posted on this Substack platform – yea! Each of these words is a REAL Word that has appeared as a correct answer on an SAT given from March 2023 to today.
CATEGORIZING these words is a challenge. At the moment I am using the following three categories – High-Frequency Words, The Toughest Words, and Core Words. I am increasingly finding that Toughest Word and Core Word CATEGORIES are too subjective. My current plan is to CATEGORIZE or sort the words based upon the frequency of their appearances as answers.
My plan is to keep the High-Frequency category for words that have appeared 3 or more times. A new Double Trouble category will include words that have appeared twice and a One Hit Wonder category will be reserved for words that have appeared once.
I’m confident SAT test writers don’t care how I categorize their words. But they are interested in the word CATEGORIZE. It just appeared as the answer for a vocabulary in context question describing how a research team has CATEGORIZED or divided zebra vocalizations into four distinctive sounds – “snorts, soft snorts, squeals, and quagga quagga calls.” Hmmm…interesting!
CATEGORIZE is now officially a new member of our collection of One Hit Wonders!It means to sort something into groups based on shared features.
