K-pop is a globally recognized music genre that originated in South Korea. It ENCOMPASSES or includes a high energy blend of pop, hip-hop, and R&B. It is celebrated for its complex, synchronized choreography, massive fan communities, and enormously popular groups such as BTS, BLACKPINK, Seventeen, Twice, and New Jeans.
SAT test writers have created a critical reading passage to hyperpop. But, they have yet to demonstrate any interest in K-pop. I can report that test writers are interested in the word ENCOMPASS!
ENCOMPASS recently appeared as an answer to a May 2026 vocabulary in context question. According to SAT test writers, sustainable agriculture ENCOMPASSES or includes both economic and social considerations. I have to admit that this example doesn’t approach K-pop as an interesting topic. But this is the SAT. Most passages are academic and intentionally tedious.
