Today’s picture features Professor Severus Snape and the pianist Catherine Kautsky. What could a now deceased fictional villain and a modern living musician have in common? Both provide vivid illustrations of the SAT word MULTIFACETED. Here’s why:
Snape is a MULTIFACETED or many-sided character in the Harry Potter series of books and films. He is a former Death Eater who acts as a double agent for Albus Dumbledore. Although he seems hostile to Harry Potter, Snape secretly protects him from Lord Voldemort.
Catherine Kautsky is also MULTIFACETED. Best known as an acclaimed pianist, she is also an accomplished composer, speaker, and writer. And unlike Snape, Ms. Kautsky has been featured in an SAT vocabulary in context passage!
I wouldn’t count Snape completely out of the SAT. Recent tests have featured fictional characters from Peter Pan and the Wizard of Oz. So, Snape could make an appearance on a future test!
