According to from several reliable sources, UBIQUITOUS and PREVALENT appeared on the September 12, 2026 SAT.
UBIQUITOUS means present everywhere. The High-Frequency word has appeared as an answer on at least four SATs. For example, clothing became UBIQUITOUS during the Ice Age as a defense against the cold and as a cultural statement of status.
Although the appearance of UBIQUITOUS was not a shock, PREVALENT’S first SAT appearance did represent a surprise. PREVALENT and UBIQUITOUS are closely related synonyms. Like UBIQUITOUS, PREVALENT means common and widespread. However, it is used in the narrow sense of being common in a specific area or time. For example, sinkholes and freshwater springs are both extraordinarily
PREVALENT across Florida.
Don’t confuse PREVALENT with ANOMALOUS. The two words are antonyms. While PREVALENT is used to describe something that is common and regularly occurring, ANOMALOUS is used describe something that is unusual because it deviates from a common rule or normal pattern.
