A number of recent SAT vocabulary in context questions have listed FOMENT as a possible wrong answer. FOMENT means to stir up by instigating trouble. Thus far, FOMENT has been a tempting but incorrect answer.
This actually makes sense. Think about it: almost all SAT vocabulary in context questions focus on the achievements of artists, writers, and scientists. FOMENT is a very negative word. It is hard to imagine how it would fit into the positive context of current vocabulary in context questions
