The influence can be easily recognized by architectural tourists. CORROBORATE is a very tempting answer because it means to confirm or support a claim. The passage does seem to assert the claim that the influence of Spanish architecture is easily recognized in many California buildings. But what about PALPABLE? Many students failed to recall that PALPABLE describes a visible object or style that can be seen and is therefore easily recognized. The key phrase easily recognized points directly to PALPABLE. So the correct answer is PALPABLE.
